Eticas Research & Consulting is a Spain-based SME working on the social, ethical and social impact of security policy, innovation and technology development, and the interaction between changing societal values, engineering possibilities and fundamental rights. Its contribution focuses on the analysis of the contextual factors that can and should guide technological development and implementation, with a particular emphasis on understanding broader contextual issues linked to trust and acceptability, compliance with the legal context, social externalities and ethical issues at large. Eticas’ main area of expertise and contribution to consortia is the understanding and analysis of the national and regional legal framework applicable to surveillance and security technology, the identification of weaknesses or breachof-rights instances in the development and implementation of security policy and the assessment and promotion of the inclusion of privacy, social and ethical concerns in the design of security technology and policy practice.

Role in the project

Within ORIGINS, Eticas Research & Consulting will lead WP7 and contribute to: Information ethics critical inventory, analysis of the societal aspects of breeder documents with focus on role in issuance of e-passports, and collection of real life cases about breeder documents.
